Silver Sneakers

The Danville Family YMCA honors a program called Silver Sneakers. This program is serviced by Tivity Health through various insurance companies. If an individual has an insurance plan through one of these companies, he or she can have a membership to the Y paid for by their insurance company through Tivity Health. Individuals are encouraged to call Tivity Health to see if they qualify for the Silver Sneakers program at (866) 456-3065. If this program is included in their particular insurance package, Tivity Health will send the individual a membership card. Once that card is received, they only need to show up at the Y. We will document each visit and we will work with Tivity Health to cover the cost of the membership..

This program makes up just about 90% of our Senior population within the Y. Because they feel like they are getting something for FREE it motivates them to come out and join us! There is a great community and sense of belonging within the Silver Sneakers crew.

DON’T GET THEM CONFUSED! The class Silver Sneakers is NOT for Silver Sneakers members only- it’s for everyone! Specifically designed by the Silver Sneakers program to help maintain and improve mobility. The exercises are done from a chair and includes small weights and resistance bands.
